Preview visits

A visit to a ski resort is excellent preparation for running a trip of your own, and at PGL we encourage you to take advantage of our preview trips and special courses designed for teachers who take ski trips. Below is a little more detail about the preview visits and courses we offer:

Option 1: Individual Teacher Preview Visits

How Does This Work?

You stay in the PGL accommodation you are planning to use for your group. If this is not available we will suggest an alternative nearby and arrange a visit to the property you wish to preview. You arrange your own flight and car hire as necessary.

What are the benefits of choosing this option?

  • This is the ideal option if you need to see the actual accommodation and resort that you have booked.
  • You have the opportunity to research and assess the accommodation, resort, skiing and evening entertainments in order to ensure they are suitable for your group.
  • PGL will book your accommodation for you for your choice of duration.
  • PGL will assist with information about nearest airports and which airlines fly there.

When does it take place?

At your convenience, by arrangement with our reservations staff. In principle this kind of visit can be at any time during the season as long as your choice of accommodation is available.

What’s included?

PGL covers the cost of 3 nights half board accommodation in the hotel you have booked for your group for 2 people and the appropriate 2-day lift pass.

You simply arrange and pay for your own travel. PGL will provide a quote for equipment and insurance if required. Longer durations available on request – supplements payable.

Individual Teacher Preview Visits are subject to accommodation availability at the time of the request. Any preview requests should be made at least 6 weeks in advance of the departure date required.

Option 2: Shadow a school group

How Does This Work?

You travel out with a school group on a coach and effectively ‘shadow’ them for the duration of their stay. You will need to travel to the school or another agreed pick-up point by arrangement (usually the ferry port).

What are the benefits of choosing this option?

  • You see the whole cycle of a ski trip from your pick up point to your return to the UK.
  • You see every aspect of a trip ‘in action’ for complete peace of mind.
  • You can talk to teachers and PGL staff on the trip for practical tips and recommendations.

When does it take place?

At your convenience, by arrangement with our reservations staff. In principal this kind of visit can be at any time during the season as long as we have availability on the coach and space at our accommodation.

How much does it cost?

  • £199 (refundable on booking a full group of 40 full paying passengers. Subject to availability).

What’s included?

Your transport and full board accommodation for the whole tour. Lift passes are charged separately but can be pre-booked along with insurance and equipment as required.

Snowsport organiser course

Accredited by Snowsport England (the National Governing Body for Skiing and Snowboarding in England), the Snowsport Course Organiser one day course has been designed specifically to enable party leaders to organise ski courses safely, responsibly, efficiently and in such a way as to give maximum educational benefit (in skiing terms) to young people.

Snowsport England recommends that all adults accompanying young people on ski trips should have attended the Snowsport Course Organiser Course. This course is recognised as appropriate training by most LEAs. This is a classroom based theory course, split into two sessions during the day.
