Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hospitality (Catering)
If you're committed to a career in catering and see yourself taking charge of a team of Catering Assistants, Chefs and co-ordinating the preparation of meals for several hundred people per mealtime, then the Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship is for you!
To be eligible for this scheme, you need to be employed by PGL in a staff supervisory role - typically working as a Head Chef, Housekeeping Supervisor, Dining Room Supervisor or Retail/Bar Supervisor.
What Will I Gain?
This is a well respected nationally-recognised industry award. You'll be given the opportunity to gain the Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership as part of the award, which covers the following topics:
1) Supervising staff;
2) Organising resources;
3) Ensuring health, safety and hygiene;
4) Food production;
5) Dealing with customer problems.
Optional topics may be available.
You'll also work towards Key Skills certificates at Level 2 for Application of Number and Communication as well as Level 3 Food Safety and the Technical Certificate in Supervision and Leadership Principles.
How Will I be Assessed?
For the Diploma aspect of the course, you will build a portfolio of evidence ranging from staff rotas, health and safety checks and menus that you have created, for example.
The key skills and technical certificates are assessed by online multiple choice questionnaires.
As with all aspects of the Apprenticeship scheme, you will also be observed simply doing your job.
The Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship takes around 18 months to complete but as you work at your own pace, there is the option to complete slightly sooner or to take things slower - the choice is yours.
You will be supported by a PGL Learning and Development Officer throughout the scheme.
The Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship is offered free of charge, providing you complete your contract of employment with us. You do not need to have completed the Apprenticeship to be eligible for a place on the Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship, but you do need to be employed in a role where staff supervision forms part of your duties.
There are no age or nationality restrictions for this scheme - PGL can fund candidates outside of the regular eligibility criteria if you demonstrate the passion, aptitude and capabilities required for this scheme.
