More Than Just a Job
We believe that our employment opportunities are more than just jobs. Working in the outdoors with enthusiastic guests and living with like-minded people from around the globe is a great life and creates a culture that we believe is hard to beat!
The emphasis is on teamwork and we encourage everyone at PGL to experience all aspects of the centre’s operations. It is our knowledgeable and enthusiastic employees who make sure our customers keep coming back year after year.
We are continuing to grow, offering more activities and products every year. Wherever you choose to work in PGL, you can rest assured that we are prepared to invest in your personal and professional development through in-house and nationally-recognised training programmes.
Our returning staff list PGL centre social life as one of the top three reasons for wishing to return to PGL for another season, together with the opportunites for training and development and the fact that working with us is just a whole lot of fun!
Our centres are located in a variety of locations, from beach-side tented villages on the French Mediterranean coast, in World Heritage sites and more urban settings close to towns.
And then there’s the chance to live and work in another country, learn a new language and experience some of Europe’s most challenging adventure sports locations. Our centres offer a great base from which to explore during your free time, whether that’s white water paddling, crag climbing, heading into the bright lights of London or Paris or simply lazing on the beach.
Great for Gap Years
Each season, several of our staff team join us during their gap year after finishing school and before or after university. Working for PGL offers a fantastic opportunity to ease you into life living away from home, developing your confidence, skills and independence, but still living and working in a supportive environment where the emphasis is on fun. What's more, you'll be getting paid for the experience too!
You'll absorb all sorts of transferable skills to add to your CV, including customer service excellence, team working, confidence, responsibility, resourcefulness and using your initiative. You'll also gain job-specific skills depending on your role, e.g. professional catering knowledge, maintenance expertise, group management and practical activity proficiency, for example. You may also have the chance to gain some nationally-recognised personal competency and/or coaching qualifications along the way.
Some of our staff team members join us for a season from overseas, either taking a year out after school before university to improve their English abilities or simply to partially fund a trip around the world. As PGL offers full board accommodation, we are a natural option for many young people coming over from the Southern Hemisphere on a working travel/youth mobility visa. This all makes for a truly cosmopolitan community on our activity centres and some people in this situation go on to travel together at the end of their contract or stay with each other in the future.
Many of our staff return to us after university too; a season with PGL can help you to figure out what you want to do next in life. And sometimes, that could even mean coming back for more!
