PGL Maintenance Assistant

Maintenance Assistant

Keeping on top of things when there are hundreds of children passing through your centre week after week is certainly a challenge. You could be painting rooms, building fences, fixing leaky taps and changing plugs ... all in the same day!

Paul Martin, Caythorpe Court

Paul says:
I came to Caythorpe in 2006, the first year it opened, and have seen the centre progress from the beginning. The projects I’ve been proudest to complete are building a stone wall and creating our challenge course; my supervisor came up with the plans for the course and then the team built it from scratch.

Day-to-day, I fix anything that’s broken, from changing light bulbs to squaring-up doors. I’ve also taken part in further development with my NVQ Level 2 in Building Maintenance. I’m always keen to learn new skills and there is always something to learn.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my role; rain or shine, I’m happy doing the work. There are plenty of people to mix with, and plenty of activities in the evenings.
