Primary Schools: Adventure Study
A PGL Adventure Study residential course will help to bring subject areas to life for your pupils. Academic skills are applied with direct reference to the adventure activities on offer, from recording data to experimenting with robotics, exploring local history or experiencing a foreign culture.
Below you will find a list of our centres with a quick description of the location and specialities of each of them. Adventure Study centres will have classroom and ICT facilities available for your use, as well as all the equipment and materials you will need for your course.

- Barton Hall
Close to Torquay and within easy reach of the M5, Barton Hall offers accommodation in the main house and in en suite chalets. Facilities include an indoor activity zone, heated outdoor swimming pool, classrooms for Field Studies and Science, and ICT suites. The newly built lake extends the impressive range of available activities.



- Boreatton Park
Near Shrewsbury and 1½ – 2 hours drive from Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, Boreatton Park has recently undergone a £1 million upgrade including the addition of a new sports hall.



- Caythorpe Court
The most recent addition to PGL’s range of centres, Caythorpe Court is near Grantham in Lincolnshire. It has purpose built accommodation blocks and a wide range of facilities including classrooms, sports hall, playing fields and a man-made lake.



- Dalguise
Located just north of Perth and within 1½ hours drive of Edinburgh and Glasgow, the centre at Dalguise consists of an 18th century mansion within 50 acres of grounds, in a stunning loch, forest and mountain setting.



- Little Canada
On the Isle of Wight, minutes from the Fishbourne ferry, Little Canada is located in 48 acres of beautiful woodland on the banks of Wootton Creek. The centre offers distinctive log cabin style accommodation and a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities. ICT and Field Studies courses are available in addition to Multi-Activity courses.



- Loch Ranza
Loch Ranza, on the Isle of Arran is PGL’s specialist Field Studies centre, catering for a wide range of courses including Geography, Geology, Biology and Environmental Science. Ardrossan Harbour, is less than 1 hour by rail from Glasgow and the ferry crossing to Brodick takes approximately 55 minutes. Exciting outdoor activities are also available.



- Marchants Hill
Situated near Hindhead, Surrey and within easy reach of London and the M25, Marchants Hill boasts 45 acres of spacious and tranquil grounds. Recent additions include en suite two-storey lodge accommodation, sports barn and common room. Extensive land-based activities and ICT resources are available on site.



- Osmington Bay
Located at the heart of the Dorset World Heritage coast, Osmington Bay comprises a 45 acre site with its own private beach. A popular centre for watersports as well as offering a comprehensive land-based activity programme, Osmington also runs a range of Field Studies and modular ICT courses.



- Winmarleigh Hall
Close to Preston in Lancashire, Winmarleigh Hall is a Victorian estate set in 50 acres of gardens, parkland and woodland.



- Château de Grande Romaine
Situated just 20 miles from Paris the Château de Grande Romaine is the ideal base from which to explore France’s capital. Students share 4-6 bedded en suite rooms and amenities include excellent study facilities and an outdoor heated pool.



- Château du Tertre
Located at the crossroads of Normandy, Brittany and the Loire, Château du Tertre provides an authentic experience of France whilst retaining the benefits of friendliness and security that are PGL’s trademark.



- Le Pré Catelan
Only 1 hour from Calais this small and friendly centre at Hardelot on the Opal coast is an ideal base for younger groups. Originally a 19th century hotel, the location lends itself particularly well to historical interest excursions, being within easy reach of battlefields from Agincourt to WWII.
