Obertauern

The village itself is compact and attractive, constructed in the Austrian chalet style.  The skiing is well-linked on both sides of the road, has an impressively fast and efficient lift system and interesting snow-sure slopes to keep all the group happy.

For beginners Obertauern offers a range of nursery slopes including a high-altitude beginner area accessible on the Schaidberg chair, with easy runs back into the valley.  Intermediates are well served with easier intermediate runs lower down and the more challenging ones higher up the mountain, and a circuit of the whole area easily achieveable by a good intermediate skier.  Experts will enjoy the steep slopes from the Gamsleiten chair.
