Theme 2: The Environment, Earth and Universe

Geology, Rocks and Fossils

Pupils examine different rock types and their textures which were formed in a variety of environmental conditions and timescales. They discuss erosion, permeability and the effects these processes have. Groups will also discuss fossil formation, and where possible will have the opportunity to hunt for fossils.

Solar System

Using our amazing mobile planetarium, pupils learn about the reasons for seasons, day and night, constellations, the solar system and our galaxy. They discuss the possibility of extra-terrestrial life, based on their understanding of the gravitational and atmospheric conditions needed.
