Science Museum: With over 300,000 objects in its care, covering the entire history of western science, technology and medicine. Free entrance, charges for some services.
British Museum: Discover the history and culture of mankind from the oldest man-made tools to the first known image of Christ. Free entrance, guided tours available for a charge.
Natural History Museum: A museum with a wide variety of interesting science themes and many interactive displays. Entrance is free.
The Grant Museum: An active and exciting range of educational programmes - an excellent resource for hands-on workshops and tailor-made educational visits.

Paris

Cité des Sciences et de l'industrie: including 'La Géode' and 'La Cinnaxe' this complex is a museum, auditorium, reference and study centre as well as a park, with exhibitions on 'Earth and the Universe', 'Man and Matter' and 'Adventures of Life'.
Palais de la Decouverte: A museum visit and planetarium show, giving a platform for contemporary science with interactive experiments and commentaries from lecturers in astronomy, astrophysics, life science, maths, chemistry and physics.

The Loire Region

Futuroscope: A theme park exploring scientific themes using new media technologies. A study pack (Environmental Detective Discover Pack) is available free of charge and links to aspects of the National Curriculum.
Aquarium de Touraine, Amboise: Europe's largest inland aquarium with 10,000 fish in 43 open tanks.
Château du Clos Lucé, Amboise: The château where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last 3 years of his life. Explore the château and Leonardo's 40 machines and inventions.
Caves Gratien Meyer in Saumur: A tour of a producer of sparkling wines, includes an explanation of the "methode traditionelle" used to produce sparkling wine and Champagne.

Holland

Space Expo: Europe's first permanent space exhibition. Experience a simulated launch, discover the world of satellites and what it is like to live and work in space. Guided tours are available to enhance the experience.

Course Information

If you are looking for a focused study element to your Science trip, PGL offers a practical and stimulating Science Course for Key Stage 3 students. Based at a PGL centre in the UK this is a flexible, modular course with a choice of themes such as Space, Forensics or the science of Special Effects!  The course combines Science themes with adventure activities, using a hands-on approach to encourage independent learning.
