Meiringen
An attractive Swiss resort with easy lift access, ideal for beginners and intermediates.
In 1891 the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle sent his fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, plunging to his death at the Reichenbach Falls in Meiringen. Nowadays, though, Meiringen is best known for its 80km of varied skiing with excellent snow cover.
The area is ideal for school parties, with plenty of runs for beginner and intermediate skiers. The more adventurous are well served by some superb red runs and a very exciting black run.
Meiringen is situated at the gateway to the excellent lift system at the valley floor level, and the cable car takes only five minutes to arrive at the level of the pistes.
