Situated in the unspoilt and easily accessible Maurienne Valley, the ski areas of Valmeinier and Valloire combine to form the extensive Galibier-Thabor domain, where two thirds of the skiing is above 2000m. With many north facing slopes, this is a very snow sure resort.
Valmeinier itself comprises two separate resorts at 1500 and 1800m: the high altitude resort of 1800 is a purpose built complex and the livelier of the two with stunning mountain views, while 1500 has a more traditional village feel. A regular ski bus links the two stations, allowing access into the slopes of Valloire via the Grandes Drozes and Moneul lifts.
