We receive lots of calls, emails and messages on Social Media from people after they have applied, asking about the progress of their application.

We appreciate that you no doubt want to get your plans sorted and are excited about the prospect of joining our staff team.

Applying to us is a bit different from your average company. We handle in the region of 7,500 applications each year for 3,500 positions (of which the majority start between January and May) and therefore we are incredibly busy during January, February, March and April.

We treat each application individually based on several factors including your availability date, preferred position, reference status – so it’s impossible to give out a generic ‘we’ll be in touch with x days’ message to our applicants. Please read through the following common questions and their answers below before contacting the PGL Recruitment Team or posting a message on our forum in case you find the answer to your question. I've submitted my application - what happens next?

This will largely depend on your availability dates and the role / location you have applied for. If you are able to start work in the next few weeks, and we like what we see on your application, we will send off your reference requests and look for a vacancy that suits your skills and start date.

If you are not available until later in the year (particularly from late May onwards), your application will be held on file until closer to your availability date.

I've got 2 or 3 of my references back, can start work straight away but haven't received a job offer yet. What's going on?

It is most likely that a Recruitment Officer is just finding a suitable position for you and processing all of the necessary paperwork. Staffing our centres is like a big jigsaw puzzle of skills, qualifications, date availability, and personalities, matched against guest booking numbers, so you'll appreciate it's not as easy as it might seem, hence the wait!

My references haven't received anything from PGL but my online count says they have been sent. What should I do?

If your references state that a request was sent out by us more than two weeks previously and we have not yet received an answer, please contact your referee, encouraging them to return it. If they have not received a reference request form from us, please let us know as unfortunately, due to the sheer volume of reference requests that we send out, some are possibly going to get lost in the post.

You only need to add a new reference to your account if a member of the PGL Recruitment Team asks you to. Please do not add another reference if we have not yet heard back from your original 3 referees.

How do I change my availability dates?

If your availability dates change after you have submitted your application, we only need to know if it is a difference of two weeks or more (earlier or later). Please call us on 0333 321 2 123 to discuss your options.

If you become available earlier than you previously thought, please do let us know as this can often make the difference between your application being successful or not.
