for Brigades and Cadets
Discover the dramatic Ardèche
It’s an inspirational location.
The clear water of the Ardèche River, its impressive cliffs and stunning scenery take your breath away.
And with us you experience all of this magnificence from an open canoe.
Bring a little of the wider world into their lives.
Make this a journey of discovery with your Boys’ or Girls’ Brigade.
It’s a chance for them to discover themselves – discover how they respond to an entirely new environment.
Bring out their inner enthusiasm; the determination to succeed.
Let them learn and develop new skills; even achieve a canoeing qualification.
Above all of this, though, it’s the glorious memories they’ll bring back; the knowledge of great achievements made in a short space of time and the self-confidence they’ll bring home with them.
Simply put, you can’t do this at home!
Two or three days are spent doing the 19 mile descent of the Ardèche River which includes the exciting opportunity for your group to camp out beside the river, sleeping beneath the stars on an overnight bivouac.
Day one begins with a session on the water to get to grips with the basic requirements of guiding a canoe down river. Following this you’ll set off in small groups, each with a dedicated instructor to help build each youngster’s skill level and confidence.
The programme for the rest of your stay is full of further adventure and can include a mountain biking expedition through the hillside, canyoning in the Besorgues river gorge, exploring the caves around the Cèze River, or trekking along the riverside to experience the waterfalls at the Cascades De Saudatet.
You can choose from two PGL centres in the Ardèche – both are packed full of further on-site adventure activities so that you get even more from your stay.

Girls’ and Boys’ Brigades groups benefit from increased confidence and the opportunity to develop key skills such as leadership.
Travelling abroad delivers improvements in many other areas such as self-reliance, taking responsibility, becoming more independent and developing a positive attitude.
All group members will build confidence by challenging themselves and overcoming fears with the support of their friends, leaders and our staff.
An adventure overseas can also provide inspiration for other areas of academic learning.
Girls’ and Boys’ Brigades groups learn about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping active.
