The Cubs visit PGL Caythorpe Court

This year Cubs are celebrating 100 years of fun and adventure! To start these celebrations, 1st Woodville went to PGL Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire for a weekend in October last year.

"After a long and delayed train journey from Leicester to Grantham, we finally arrived at Caythorpe Court! The Cubs and leaders were impressed with their welcome and we were soon having tea and settling in.

Saturday morning started very early, (something I'm not used to being a student) but we were all excited to get started with the activities. First was Aeroball and High Ropes. As you can imagine it was very autumnal and it was great to get out of the city, get some fresh air and spend time with my Scouting family.

After lunch the adventure continued with Quad Biking and Zip-Wire. And in case you hadn't noticed, we all had purple hoodies with '1st Woodville Cub Pack on Tour' on the back. We definitely stood out!

After an action-packed day, we were all ready for tea! The Cubs then went to the disco and the leaders went for wine and cheese.

Sunday brought more sunshine and more activities! We did Giant Swing, Rifle Shooting, Tunnel Trail and Trapeze.

This weekend like any other Scouting one was amazing! The Cubs, leaders and I had such a great time and this is because of so many things that you don't really get when going to Scout-run campsites:

1. The number of activities provided for us was great value for money.

2. The staff are superb! No more I can say really, they were just fantastic and it made me kind of want to work there. The pressure was off the leaders for a change - we didn't have to organise or run the activities, cook, or even wash up! We got to enjoy the weekend a lot more than usual and even got to do the activities ourselves!

3. We got to stay inside with lovely comfy beds, although there is an option to camp in the summer.

4. They offer FREE, yes FREE, taster weekends so you can go and see what it's all about.

5. It was so good that we are going back later this year and bringing the Scouts with us too!"
