Personal Development & Year Group Bonding at winmarleigh hall for secondary schools

Growing up with confidence

The transition from primary to secondary school can be one of the most challenging experiences in a child's school life - coping with new situations and environments, taking decisions and making new friends. So how best to help students deal with this and other challenges which arise during their school career?

A PGL Personal Development course encourages each individual to meet challenges head-on, assess situations and make decisions, building trust and forging stronger relationships within the group and with you, their teacher.

Your students will discover new strengths and skills: some which they never knew they had. They'll also improve their confidence by overcoming challenges, pushing their boundaries and taking pride in their achievements.

By stepping outside their comfort zone, under the watchful eyes of our trained instructors, they'll find new friendships, new areas in common with their peers and a renewed confidence in themselves: all of which will have a positive effect back in the classroom.

Year 7 bonding

Personal Development courses are particularly suitable for Year 7 groups, providing opportunities for them to build the resilience, tolerance and self-reliance they need during the transition period. All our centres have the capacity to take whole year groups comfortably.

So how does it work?

Using adventure activities to stimulate learning and growth, our Personal Development courses are supported by trained PGL instructors who tailor the adventure sessions to meet your objectives.

Thought-provoking workbooks and discussion opportunities, plus a "plan-do-review" approach help students assess and understand what they've learnt - the connections, the insights, and the impact it has on their own feelings and behaviour.

Our Personal Development courses are ideal for single classes or for whole year groups, getting a new school year or term off to a motivating and inspiring start.

Our development course uses adventure activities to support learning and growth, and we’ve also added some further support.

Our well-trained instructors devise appropriate introductions to the adventure sessions.
There is a thought-provoking workbook and plenty of discussion opportunities.

The ‘Plan, Do, Review’ approach helps your students understand what they’ve learnt and the impact this has on their own behaviour.

We’ll tease out what they were feeling with review sessions after each activity – the implications; the connections; the insights.

And send them home feeling taller.
