New - Bawdsey Manor, a centre like no other!

Our newest centre, PGL Bawdsey Manor, in Suffolk, opened very briefly for it's first holiday guests in summer 2017 and it's a truly stunning place!

Bawdsey Manor is a remarkable Grade II* listed, private site, sitting in 144 acres of parkland and woodland and facing directly onto the beautiful Suffolk coastline, at the mouth of the River Deben. Steeped in history, it has a substantial main house that is said to resemble the Queen's residence at Sandringham and a host of other listed buildings and gardens throughout the property.

Bawdsey is less than 2 hours drive from Norwich, Cambridge and the M25 and direct trains run from Woodbridge (12 miles away) to Liverpool Street Station in London.

Until last year when we purchased it, Bawdsey was a renowned international school as well as a family home and has many excellent existing facilities as a result, including a sailing school and boatyard, tennis courts, dining room, classrooms and accommodation.

Having opened briefly for summer 2017, over the winter we will be adding to all the existing facilities and investing heavily in improvements to reopen again in Spring 2018 as an even brighter and bolder centre, with even more to offer our guests. A new dining room, the creation of en-suite bedrooms and construction of many additional PGL activity bases in the grounds will all further improve Bawdsey. We'll keep you up to date with the developments right here!

Here's a great, recent, aerial video that gives you a little glimpse of what will make Bawdsey 'a centre like no other' click here to view

We can't wait to welcome you in 2018 to the 'new' PGL Bawdsey Manor

Accommodation

Most rooms will be in the accommodation buildings in the grounds although we will sometimes us the dormitory rooms in the main house too. The majority of rooms have 4-6 beds to a room, and a small number of rooms have 8-10 beds.

All rooms in the accommodation blocks in the grounds are being refurbished to include new ensuite bathrooms throughout. Rooms in the main house will all have bathrooms close by.

Facilities

Leading up to the start of our 2018 season at Bawdsey Manor we are investing heavily in our new centre to fill the grounds with additional amazing, purpose-built activity bases. Bawdsey will have a full range of activities from our classic programme including giant swings, a jacob's ladder, trapeze and climb towers.

Alongside our new activities, we are also converting the existing, historic clock tower buildings into a buffet style dining room, creating a new space to relax inland enjoy meal times, just a short walk from the main accommodation blocks. Dormitory bedrooms in the main house will also be improved along with the existing accommodation blocks in etc grounds that will be fully refurbished and have ensuite bathrooms added.

Food

Fuel for LIFE!
Fun may be important, but so is food, and we want to inspire children into a healthier lifestyle that includes a tasty, balanced diet. We work closely with leading catering organisations to ensure our food is the best it can be and our dining rooms are fun, active places where it’s good to refuel during a busy fun-packed day.

From fussy eaters to growing appetites!
No-one should leave our dining room hungry so we try to offer a range of different and nutritious hot food to suit all appetites. There is unlimited access to the salad bar and bread basket and children can help themselves to fruit. Our buffet style restaurant means that children can ‘mix and match’ the items they love most. Our Group leaders are on hand to help and will look out for anyone who can’t find anything on the menu that they enjoy.

If necessary our catering teams will be more than happy to prepare something special.

Allergies, intolerances and other dietary requirements
A vegetarian alternative can always be provided on all our holidays, and we can accommodate most special diets required on medical or religious grounds, just let us know when you book.

Keeping hydrated
Water, squash, tea and coffee are available with all meals and children are encouraged to refill their water bottles for regular use throughout the day. There are also water fountains available around the centre.
