Getting there is easy!

Getting your child to and from our centres couldn’t be easier. You can drop off your children at any of our UK centres but if your chosen centre if too far away to easily drive, you may wish to use one of our superb PGL Escorted Travel service options. This way, you can be sure that your child reaches us safely.

We offer a wide range of travel options:

Self-drive

Directions to each of our centres are provided in the 'Welcome Pack' document, which is available to view or download within your MyPGL account once you have made a booking.  

If you cannot arrive between these times, please contact our Holiday Consultants at least 7 days before arrival, with details of your expected arrival time. When children arrive earlier or depart later than the times published above, a £10.00 per hour per child charge applies. In these circumstances children will be supervised by PGL Staff with some entertainment provided (e.g DVD or board games). 

Escorted Travel

PGL Travel Couriers travel with all children from the meeting point, where they are signed in, to arrival at the centre. On return, we escort all children back to the meeting point, where our Travel Couriers will remain on duty until all children are collected.

PGL's Fully Escorted Travel services to and from UK centres are available in the Summer on Saturdays (see table below for exact dates for each PGL centre).  With PGL staff supervision all the way to and from the centre, Fully Escorted Travel is a popular choice with many parents.

Please note: depending upon the airport and PGL centre you choose, the service can, on occasion, result in a late arrival time (up to 8pm) to the PGL centre. Please call us for details on the service durations. 

Most journeys are by coach (fitted with lap belts). Some also include rail travel, such as the journey from London to Beam House, or a short ferry crossing in the case of Little Canada.

Please note: The end dates (last outbound) shown above are the dates on which the route terminates and therefore only return travel from centre is available, therefore it is not possible to book inbound travel to PGL centre's on these dates.

Exceptions or restrictions on routes :

  • ^ Boreatton Park, Marchants Hill and  Osmington Bay travel back from centre available to London Central and London St Pancras only on 29/08 (not via Kempton Park).
  • ~ Escorted travel to centre is available on this date but with NO return coach travel option on the 29/08, however, station transfers will be available.
  • ** Little Canada via Portsmouth and Southampton routes run 18/07 to 29/08.

This leaflet covers everything from PGL Fully Escorted Travel documentation to meeting and departure times. It also has all the information about Kempton Park, our central hub for all of our Fully Escorted Travel routes and waiting times.

Parent/guardian drop off/collection points/location

Intercentre Transfers

Staying more than one week? Why not try two centres. 

If you are staying for multiple weeks we can offer an Intercentre Transfer, where our Escorted Travel service is used to transfer guests between PGL centres. Your child would depart their first centre by coach to Kempton Park (our central travel hub) and from there would join the coach to their second PGL centre.

Please note this service is limited to certain dates and centres, therefore please contact our team on 0333 321 2114 for availability and prices. 

Airport/Eurostar services

The PGL Fully Escorted Airport and Eurostar service includes escorting your child (by coach) from Heathrow, Gatwick or London St Pancras International, to the PGL centre via our stop off point (Kempton Park Race Course) and back again. Transfers are also available from Birmingham International Airport which do not stop off at Kempton Park on route. Please note: depending upon the airport and PGL centre you choose, the service can, on occasion, result in a late arrival time (up to 8pm) to the PGL centre. Please call us for details on the service durations. 

If you wish to book one of these services, we will need to know all the details of the Eurostar service or flight that your children will be using before we can confirm your booking on our connecting service.

Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham Airports: If you are not able to book flights which land/take off within the hours shown below, please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements before booking your flights.

*Eurostar London St Pancras International: The times below are the meeting times based on current published timetables (as of Nov 2019) and can occasionally be altered by timetable changes. When booking your train tickets, if the times below are not available please contact us so we can advise which trains are suitable and connect with our escorted travel network. If the advised routes are sold out and a later train is to be booked then we reserve the right to charge £50 per hour per child to provide supervision at the station until the later departure time. 

Please note: under 12 year olds must travel with a responsible person aged 16 or older. 12 to 15 year olds can travel on their own, as long as they've got a fully completed Eurostar Unaccompanied Minor Form. This can be downloaded here. This must be signed by their parent or legal guardian (or by a responsible adult given consent by the parent or legal guardian) at the station in the presence of a member of the Eurostar team. Any guests aged 16 or over can travel by themselves, as long as they've got all the usual travel documents and meet all the legal requirements.

Station transfer - escorted service to and from nearest rail stations

We offer a pick-up service from the station nearest to each centre. If you are accompanying your child on the train journey, there is no minimum age limit but if your child is travelling unaccompanied by rail, the minimum age at which train operators will permit this is 12.

This service ensures your child is escorted safely by PGL staff from the arrival station to the centre, and vice versa. PGL's responsibilities begin and end when your child has been met from or placed on the train. Our staff will meet arrivals at the station between 15.30 and 16.30 and at the end of the holiday, they will return guests to the station for trains departing between 09.00 and 10.00. This service is only available for Saturday arrivals and departures to and from the stations listed below (with the exception of Little Canada where it runs on Mondays and Fridays too). Please note this service does not include rail tickets, which you must book and give to your child in advance (including return tickets at the end of the holiday). Tickets can be handed in for safe-keeping once your child has arrived at our centre.

If you intend to use this service, we ask that you also read and follow the British Transport Police's guidelines for 'Unaccompanied Children', which you can view here.

In particular, we would recommend that you provide a mobile phone for your child and the means to charge it if they are travelling unaccompanied, to or from our centre by train so that you have a means of contact with them whilst they are not in the care of PGL.

Travelling to our French centres

If your child has been booked on to a PGL Adventure Holiday in France, you will be able to download a copy of the French Welcome Pack from your MyPGL account. In this you will find all of our French travel information, information about travel insurance, checklists and more.

Please see below for an overview of our French travel procedures, including all of the important information you may need before your French Welcome Pack is available:

Guests will be picked up in Manchester, Birmingham, London or Folkestone. Please check on your final booking confirmation that the correct pick-up point has been booked. Please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time as we cannot wait for late arrivals. If you are delayed, please call the PGL Travel Line on 01989 766 203. Important information if booking our travel services

PGL travel services - important information 

  • If you wish to use any PGL travel service, it must be booked at least seven days prior to departure.
  • If you cancel travel arrangements within 14 days of travel, please be advised that all fees are forfeited. This needs to be confirmed in writing via email to holidays@pgl.co.uk.
  • It is important that you supply us with any flight/ Eurostar services that you have booked yourself, at the time of booking your holiday with us. It is not possible to book a PGL holiday until you have booked and confirmed your on going travel details and provided us with them (e.g flight/ Eurostar times). 
  • If in the event of cancelled or delayed flights/trains please contact our travel line as soon as possible. Please note alternative travel arrangements and associated costs will be the responsibility of the parent/lead booker, however where possible our team will assist with these.
