Book with Confidence for Overseas Agents 2022

Updated 15th October 2021

Information and frequently asked questions for all overseas groups travelling to PGL centres in the UK between 01 January and 31 December 2022

What are the current rules for arriving in the UK?

On 4th October the latest rules were updated.

• Passengers who have been in a red list country in the last ten days must quarantine at a government-approved hotel and take a series of Covid tests.

• Passengers arriving from all other countries may need to quarantine in their accommodation or they may be exempt from quarantine if they have been vaccinated under a programme that is approved by the UK government.

Who is exempt from quarantine on arrival?

• Vaccinated adults and under 18s from over 50 countries are now exempt and only have to take one post-arrival Covid test on Day 2 of their stay in the UK. This requirement is currently a PCR test, but from 24th October 2021 it is changing to a cheaper lateral flow test from an approved provider.

• A passenger is considered ‘fully vaccinated’ if they have had a complete course of the Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna or Janssen vaccines, or a combination of these, at least 15 days before arrival and they received their vaccine as part of an approved vaccination programme in the UK, European Union, EEA, USA or one of 18 countries listed here.

• Under 18s from these countries follow the same rules as vaccinated adults

Do we need to complete a passenger locator form?

All passengers arriving into the UK must complete a passenger locator form online. This form can be submitted any time within 48 hours before arrival in the UK. This will need to be shown at check in to travel or on boarding a flight, train or ferry to the UK. The following information is required:

• Passport or other travel document details

• Travel details including times and dates

• Address details of where the passenger is staying in the UK

• Booking reference number for any Covid travel tests required after arrival in the UK

What are the rules for unaccompanied children?

Students under 18 years old can travel alone if they are not travelling from a country on the red list. They must have written consent from both parents (or one parent if they have sole responsibility) or their legal guardian.

If they are fully vaccinated the rules apply as above. If they are not fully vaccinated they will be required quarantine for 10 days in their accommodation and take a Covid travel test on day 2 and day 8 of their stay. In England they have the option to test on day 5 and if negative can be released early from quarantine.

What is currently the situation regarding Covid restrictions in the UK?

In July 2021, most Covid related restrictions were lifted in England. People can meet in groups of any size and social distancing is no longer required. The use of face coverings is still encouraged and legally required on some public transport networks. If you are travelling to Dalguise, please check the Scottish government website for full details.

Do these restrictions affect PGL centres?

PGL centres have been open for domestic schools and groups for overnight residential stays since the 17th May 2021 when restrictions were lifted.

Groups are responsible for checking that everyone in their party is in good health and free of COVID-19 symptoms. We strongly encourage adults and students to take a lateral flow or antigen test prior to arrival at our centres. We also ask that if any member of the group should test positive for COVID-19 within 72 hours of departure, they should inform us straight away.

Face coverings are required to be worn by adults and children over the age of 11 when moving around the centre, such as in corridors and communal areas. For more information on our response to COVID-19, including our Risk Assessment, please click here.

What measures are in place for students or adults that test positive for COVID whilst at one of our centres?

Arrangements would need to be made for the individual to return home. Where this is not possible, we would look to accommodate them on our centre. In the unlikely event this is not possible, we would look at alternative accommodation and help with any arrangements. The costs of any alternative accommodation will be charged to the agent.

What will happen if government restrictions in my country are in place against all but essential travel to our destination?

If international travel restrictions are still in place approximately 21 days before your departure, we will look at alternative destinations for your group, consider the possibility of deferring the trip to a later date; or if there are no viable alternatives and your trip cannot go ahead due to international travel restrictions in place either local to your group or nationally then a full refund would be offered.

What happens if there is a local lockdown at your destination in the UK or a national lockdown, or quarantine restrictions that prevent you from travelling?

We will apply the same principles as above. This means that we will look at alternative options for your groups, consider the possibility of deferring the trip to a later date; or if there are no viable alternatives and you are prevented from travelling due to these Covid-19 related issues then a full refund would be offered.

When will we need to make payments for our tour?

First deposit payments are 20% of the total course are due to confirm the booking with the remaining balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Please see our standard terms and conditions for further information.

What if we want to run our trip but individual parents wish to cancel?

If a parent decides to withdraw their child through disinclination to travel, our standard terms and conditions would apply. Any cancellations must be advised in writing. PGL can provide on request insurance cover for overseas groups which covers individuals for cancellation charges should an individual test positive for Covid within 14 days of travel or for medical costs due to testing positive for Covid whilst in the UK and any quarantine or travel related costs. Please enquire for a quote.

Can we change the dates of our trip?

We are conscious of the uncertainty the current situation has created and we will be flexible where we can in moving your trip to another date in 2022 or 2023. We will work with you to find the most suitable dates and programme for you, but we would ask you to be mindful that prices may increase dependent on the time of year you postpone your trip to. Please contact us on 0333 321 2112 or email international@pgl.co.uk to discuss availability.
