News and Media: RFU announce PGL Club of the Year
18 April 2008
Paviors RFC have been named PGL Club of the Year in the Rugby Football Union's Seal of Approval awards.
The Nottinghamshire club picked up the prestigious national honour ahead of runners-up North Dorset and Peterborough and five other regional winners.
All three thriving community clubs will go forward to represent the RFU at the Sports Club of the Year awards, run by the Central Council for Physical Recreation, on May 6.
The Community Rugby Seal of Approval is an accreditation programme that recognises clubs that reach, maintain and improve a recognised standard in the safe and high-quality provision of youth rugby.
Since the programme was launched in 2003, 415 clubs have received the award and the target is for all English clubs with mini and junior sections to be accredited by 2013.
"All the clubs receiving the Seal of Approval award demonstrate the excellence of their provision of youth rugby, but the national winners are exceptional examples of good practice," said Andy Lees, the RFU's Club Development Manager.
"Paviors are clearly a superbly-run club and an inspiring place for young people to learn and enjoy the game, and they enthusiastically reach out into the community to provide access for all".
PGL are proud to support the Seal of Approval and wish to congratulate Paviors on their success.
