WAGGS World Thinking Day
February 22 marks World Thinking Day (WTD) - recognised by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts as an opportunity to think of each other and raise money to help support the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Movement and great causes around the world.
Originating in 1926, the date for this celebration was chosen because it's the birthday of both Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout Movement and Olave Baden-Powell, who was World Chief Guide.
Each year WTD is centered around a theme, with this year's theme celebrating the impact that Girlguiding has had on its members and their communities. More information can be found at www.wagggs.org.
Having an impact on others and the world around them are areas Girl Guides and Girl Scouts can explore on a PGL residential. This is also something many Brownie groups will have the opportunity to explore as part of PGL's weekends just for Brownies at Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire on 9-11 March and Dalguise in Perthshire on 20-22 April.
A PGL adventure residential experience gives young people the freedom to challenge themselves by trying new adventure activities and the opportunity to eat, sleep and spend time together as a community, learning to support and encourage each other as they work as part of a team.
It's a great opportunity to inspire self-confidence, make new friends and connect with others through each new shared experience. The outdoor environment also provides the perfect setting for young people to appreciate the world around them and understand their impact on the environment.
Many Brownies, Guides and Girl Scouts leave a PGL residential feeling more confident and self-aware, more considerate of others and inspired to achieve in other aspects of their lives.
