Want to show your kids how to connect with nature at home? Well, there are plenty of fun outdoor nature activities for kids that you can do at home! From exploring the wildlife to creating a scavenger hunt for your kids, your garden is an epic place for an adventure.

Nature activities for kids

Camping

Camping is a fantastic activity for your kids to do in the comfort of their own garden. Set up a tent, get comfortable and have fun outdoors. Wait until night time and your kids can see the magnificent starry skies! Nature really does spoil us.

If your kids don’t want to stay outside, or you don’t have a tent to use, then why not see if your little ones can build a den? It’s another fun and creative activity to do in your garden.

Find the garden’s wildlife

Your garden will have so much wildlife to explore! So, you could set your kids a challenge to see how many insects and animals they can find. They can note them down on a notepad and then learn more about what lives in their garden!

It’s one of the best adventurous outdoor nature activities you can do in your garden, and it also helps develop your kid's interest in nature.

Scavenger hunt

A scavenger hunt is always a great adventure! Pick a colour or any category you wish, and see what your kids can find and gather from your garden. Kids love to explore, and this is a great nature activity for your kids to do in their garden

Family Picnic

Take advantage of the days when you have glorious weather with a garden picnic. It’s fun for the whole family! Grab a basket and pack it with snacks, sandwiches, drinks and more, then set it up in your garden and enjoy your picnic. Maybe you’ll all enjoy some outdoor family games too!

Play in the rain

When Mother Nature decides it’s time for rain, we all usually run inside and stay dry. But sometimes it’s fun to embrace it and have a good play! All your kids need are some waterproofs and they’re good to go. They can play their favourite games and sports, or search for any creatures that are more likely to show themselves when it’s raining.

Create art

We’re sure your garden has lots of items that your kids can use to make art. They can use sticks, leaves, plants, flowers and lots of other things! It’s a creative way for children to use nature to express themselves and create something unique.
