10 Things to do near Disneyland Paris® with Kids

Whether you’re looking for something close to the park, a quick excursion into Paris, or entirely new ways to keep the kids entertained, there’s no shortage of adventures near Disneyland Paris. The following activities make for wonderful day trips that will add variety, fun, and a little extra magic to your family holiday! 

1. Disney Village

Immerse the whole family in the magic of Disney, even without a park ticket! Yep, that’s right. You don’t need a park ticket to enjoy all the fun Disney Village has to offer, making it a perfect spot to spend the day, especially on arrival or departure days when you’re not heading into the parks.

Located near the Disney Parks entrance, this bustling district is packed with shops, entertainment and family-friendly attractions. You can browse the huge Disney Store, grab a bite to eat at themed restaurants like Annette's Diner for a classic American experience, or the Rainforest Cafe with its immersive jungle décor and animal animatronics—always a hit with kids! 

There’s also an IMAX cinema, where kids and parents can catch the latest films and exclusive titles. In the evenings, there are often street performers and live music sessions, available every Thursday to Saturday, featuring DJ sets, karaoke, and dance workshops.

Opening times: 8:00 AM until late. 

How to get there: Take a 35-minute train ride from central Paris on the RER A. If you're staying at a Disney hotel, you can simply walk. 

2. Disneyland Golf Course

Fancy a change of pace from rides and rollercoasters? Then take a swing at Golf Disney! Suitable for both beginners and professionals, this beautifully landscaped course has three 9-hole courses that can be combined into 18 holes, featuring tree-lined fairways and tricky water hazards. 

It’s a brilliant way for parents to unwind while the kids try something new in the heart of the French countryside. For families who aren’t avid players, there’s a driving range where you can all have a go at hitting a few balls. The clubhouse also has a welcoming restaurant and terrace where you can enjoy a meal overlooking the greens.

Families should bring comfortable shoes and hats in summer, as it can get warm out on the course. We recommend booking a tee time in advance if you plan on visiting during school holidays.

Location: 40 Allee de La Mare Houleuse, 77700 Magny-le-Hongre, France.

Opening times: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. 

How to get there: Easy to reach by taxi or shuttle bus, and for those staying at a Disney hotel, it’s even within walking distance. You can also get there via the RER train, stopping at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station.

3. Val d’Europe Shopping

Everybody loves a bit of shopping, no matter your age! Luckily, just a 5-10 minute drive from Disneyland Paris is one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe, Val d’Europe. 

This enormous mall features 150 shops offering food, drink, gifts, clothing, toys and more! You’ll find popular high-street favourites like Zara and H&M, as well as French boutiques and a tempting Galeries Lafayette department store. The designer outlet village, La Vallée Village, is right next door and perfect for parents to snag luxury fashion and homeware products at discounted prices. 

So, if you fancy a bit of retail therapy or need to grab some essentials, this is the place to go! Make sure to head there early to avoid the lunchtime rush at weekends.

Location: 14 cours du Danube, 77711 Marne-la-Vallée, France.

Opening times: 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM (except Sunday, which closes at 8:00 PM).

How to get there: Just one stop on the RER A train from Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy to Val d’Europe. Alternatively, it's a very quick taxi or bus ride.

4. Val d’Europe Sealife Centre

Val d’Europe isn’t just shopping. Oh no. It also has a SEA LIFE aquarium! With over 350 350 species of sea creatures, including sharks, turtles, penguins, stingrays, and colourful tropical fish, it’s a fascinating day out for families just 5 minutes away from Disneyland.

Venture through the 360° underwater tunnel for an unforgettable face-to-face experience with marine life, or get hands-on at the interactive rockpool area. The centre often runs themed activities, quizzes, talks, and feeding sessions to educate visitors about ocean conservation. 

Overall, SEA LIFE is easily one of the best things to do near Disneyland Paris for some indoor entertainment on a rainy day. By the end, kids come away inspired and eager to share what they’ve learned about the ocean. Book tickets online in advance to save money and avoid queues. 

Location: Inside the Val d’Europe Shopping Centre. 

Opening times: 10:00 AM to 06:30 PM (last admission at 05:30 PM).

How to get there: Take the RER A one stop from Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy to Val d’Europe. The entrance is a short 10-15 minute walk from the station.

5. Paris City Centre

A family holiday to Disneyland Paris wouldn’t be complete without at least one day in Paris city centre. It’s a chance to immerse yourself in French culture and see some of the most famous attractions in the world. 

Start at the Eiffel Tower, where kids will love sightseeing the city from above (book tickets in advance for the lifts). Then wander through the Luxembourg Gardens, perfect for picnics and puppet shows. For all you budding artists, The Louvre is home to world-renowned artworks, the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. Families can also enjoy climbing the Arc de Triomphe for panoramic views, whilst the Ménagerie (one of Europe’s oldest zoos) is an excellent spot to see a variety of animals, nestled in the Jardin des Plantes.

  • Eiffel Tower: Open from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • The Louvre: Closed on Tuesdays. Open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday and Friday.
  • Arc de Triomphe: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
  • Jardin du Luxembourg: Opening times vary with the season, but generally open from 7:30 AM and close at dusk.
  • Ménagerie, the zoo of the Jardin des Plantes: Open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 

How to get there: The RER A train goes directly from Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy to central Paris (departs every 15 minutes). The RER A connects with the Paris Metro system, making it easy to get to any of the attractions.

6. River Seine Cruise

To see Paris from a new perspective, take a relaxing Seine river cruise. Sail past famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre. Many cruises offer an audio guide so you can listen to some fun commentary about each place. 

Choose from one-hour daytime tours to evening dinner cruises where the “City of Lights” comes alive! Don’t forget to snap some pics along the way — the views are truly spectacular! 

Location: Cruises depart from various points along the River Seine, often near the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame.

Opening times: Cruises generally operate from morning until late evening, with departures every 30–60 minutes.

How to get there: From Disneyland Paris, take the RER A to central Paris and hop on the metro to get to your chosen departure point.

7. Hot Air Balloon Ride

Take to the skies in a hot air balloon ride! If you’re looking for what to do near Disneyland Paris, then this is a place you should definitely check out. The PanoraMagique balloon is one of the largest in the world, flying up to an altitude of 100 meters.

It provides exceptional 360° views over Disneyland Paris and the French countryside and holds up to 30 guests at a time, lasting 6-8 minutes. Tickets can be bought on-site, and children under three ride free. Please note: The ride is subject to adverse weather conditions, particularly high winds, and may be closed without prior notice. Always check if it is operating on the day of your visit.

Location: Lake Disney, in Disney Village.

Opening times: Open 7 days a week, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM from April to October, and 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM from November to March. 

How to get there: It’s just a short stroll from the park gates or RER station.

8. Brie-Comte-Robert

Explore the stunning town of Brie-Comte-Robert! It's a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland Paris, offering families a slice of authentic French life. Plus, it’s not far from our centre, Château de Grande Romaine! 

Kids will love exploring the medieval castle ruins of the Feudal Château (built in the late 12th century), surrounded by beautiful moats and fortified walls. The town itself is home to several picturesque parks, including the Garden of Bienfaîtes. There's also a lively weekly market for the chance to try authentic charcuterie, artisan breads and regional wines. 

Location: Southeast of Disneyland Paris.

Opening times: 

    • Feudal Château: Open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays (times may vary).
  • Weekly market: Held on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings.

How to get there: It’s about a 20-30 minute drive away from Paris. You could also take a combination of the RER and a local bus.

9. The Town of Meaux

The riverside town of Meaux is best known for its delicious Brie cheese. In fact, you can visit the Brie de Meaux Museum and learn all about how France’s most famous cheese is made! History buffs will love the impressive Gothic St. Étienne Cathedral, and the Museum of the Great War offers interactive exhibits that make the First World War accessible for all ages. 

On top of that, the peaceful Pâtis Nature Park is great for a gentle stroll or a family picnic. Just like Brie-Comte-Robert, it offers a blend of culture, history, and foodie delights, making it a fantastic family day trip. 

Location: North-east of Disneyland Paris.

Opening times: 

  • Brie de Meaux Museum: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
  • St. Étienne Cathedral: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • Museum of the Great War: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, but is closed on Tuesday.
  • Pâtis Nature Park: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

How to get there: Meaux is easily reached by car/ taxi (approximately 50 minutes to an hour away from Paris) or by regional train from Marne-la-Vallée.

10. Medieval Provins

Step back in time with a trip to Provins, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’ll be like walking into a history book, complete with ramparts, towers, and cobbled streets. 

Families will love exploring the underground tunnels, climbing the Caesar Tower, and watching the medieval shows, including falconry displays and knights’ tournaments (seasonal). Visitors can also admire the picturesque half-timbered houses along the Voulzie River and eat at France’s oldest restaurant, La Croix d'Or. 

For a unique and immersive experience, Provins is the perfect place for the whole family to relax and make new memories together!

How to get there: The easiest way is by car or taxi, which takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Or, take the train from Paris Gare de l’Est (around 80 minutes journey).
