Outdoor team-building activities for high school students are a fantastic way to engage your class in many ways. Providing your students with the opportunity to develop social skills during fun-filled outdoor activities can also help some students become more confident in an alternative environment to the classroom.

At PGL, we offer many outdoor team-building activities for high school students all over the UK. These activities will engage your students, and in this blog, we will help provide you with the many benefits your students can gain.

Engage your students with outdoor team-building activities

Taking your students out of the classroom environment and putting them in a new one can really improve their engagement. The team-building activities we deliver allow your students to connect with classmates in ways they might not have before.

With a variety of activities, our available choices will appeal to all of your students. The challenges they will have to overcome during our activities will develop many of their cognitive skills, including problem-solving and decision-making.

Our secondary school trips are a great way to get your students out of the classroom and allow them to express themselves and participate in fun outdoor team-building activities. Here are some of our top picks:

Challenge Course

Our challenge course is an excellent way to engage your students through outdoor team-building activities as it promotes teamwork which is essential if they wish to beat the course in the quickest time possible.

Orienteering

Whilst working in small teams, your students will be introduced to practical map-reading where they will trek around the centre to locate checkpoints, aiming to defeat other groups to be the quickest. This activity is an ideal engaging team-building activity as they must collaborate to succeed.

High Ropes Course

Suspended 12 metres above ground, your students will make their way across multiple obstacles. This requires tremendous support and encouragement from everyone taking part to boost confidence and give them the edge to make it across.

Jacob's Ladder

Another great activity to engage your students and promote healthy competition amongst the group is Jacob's ladder. In this activity, students must work in teams of three to progress to the top of a ladder of logs. As they compete against fellow students, this activity will engage your students as they battle it out to become the fastest team to make it to the top.

Raft Building

Are your students ready to build their own raft using components including plastic barrels, ropes and poles? They must work together to create a raft that they can test themselves on water. This enjoyable activity is excellent for engaging students in this creative task whilst improving their communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Giant Swing

During this activity, two or three of your students are harnessed into the swing while other group members haul them up to 10 metres into the air. When they are ready, the group on the ground will pull the ripcord and set them on their speedy descent. Our giant swing is the perfect activity to build trust amongst the group.
