SATs League Tables - achieving success at KS3
The department of Education released its 2015 SATs League Tables for KS2 last week.
The SATs tests assess reading, writing and maths and can often be a challenging time for many pupils in Year 6.
Improving academic performance will always be high on the agenda for primary schools and teaching life skills, building confidence and providing personal development opportunities are a great way to support this process.
Teamwork, problem solving and communication are just some of the transferrable skills that children can build upon during a PGL learning outside the classroom residential, and these can deliver real results in terms of academic performance too.
Research published in June this year by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation highlights the importance of 'learning away' residentials and the positive outcomes these experiences have on young people when they return to school. Improvements in knowledge, cohesion, understanding and engagement with learning are just some of the benefits identified, alongside vital life skills including relationship building, resilience, self-esteem and wellbeing.
Whatever their academic ability, a PGL residential gives all children a chance to experience success in a different environment, away from the pressures of school.
