Looking for some outdoor adventure ideas for your class? Why not try coming to one of our centres and experiencing the PGL magic with a school trip of a lifetime. We have some of the best outdoor adventure activities on offer, with a selection of land, rope and water-based challenges for your students to enjoy!

Our best outdoor adventure activities

The list of activities we offer at PGL is far too extensive to include them all here, however here are some of our best outdoor adventure activities.

Aqua Park (NEW! for 2023)

Get your students involved while you can. This activity is available from May to October! Our Aqua Park challenge features an inflatable obstacle assault course located on our very own lake. Students must try and make their way across the course successfully without falling in, it’s a lot harder than it sounds. *Exclusive to Newby Wiske Hall

Axe Throwing (Secondary-Exclusive!)

Our axe throwing activity takes students back to the Viking era. They must launch their axe towards the target aiming for the bullseye to gain maximum points! It’s not so much strength, but more technique. *This activity is exclusively for secondary schools.

Quick Jump (NEW! for 2023)

The Quick Jump challenge is a real adrenaline-rush! Children must climb to the top of a 13-metre pole to reach the top, and then simply step off. Yep, that’s right. After students step off, they’ll enter a short free-fall before the harness and rope slows you down to a stop. *Exclusive to Newby Wiske Hall

River Raft Challenge

What’s more adventurous than building a raft and testing it on the lake? Well that’s what happens on our River Raft Challenge. It’s a great activity that promotes teamwork in your group as they work together to design a successful raft to compete with others. *Exclusive to Ford Castle

Giant Swing

The ultimate test of nerve and joint decision-making. Two or three of your students are harnessed into the swing, while other members of the group haul them up to 10 metres into the air. After the group in the swing decide together how high they want to go, a pull on the ripcord will send them plummeting earthward. It’s a fast and exhilarating drop, but good communication will get the right balance between fear and fun!

Laser Tag (NEW! for 2023)

The wide-open landscapes at our adventure centres offer the ultimate backdrop to a team laser tag battle. Working in teams, your group will head off equipped with their own laser gun and vest. They'll develop team tactics, communication skills, and a steady hand as they duel to come out the triumphant team!

Vertical Challenge

Overcoming an obstacle on the ground is a challenge in itself, well, how about manoeuvring past a vertical obstacle course! Our vertical challenge challenges students to beat it by passing up through its climbing wall, cargo nets, crates, and ropes. It’s an activity that is physically demanding, but so much fun.
