FAQs
Below is a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a query that isn't listed here, or would like more information on any of the topics mentioned, please call us on 0333 321 2116
Are your centres approved for use by groups like ours?
We are supported by LAs throughout the country and every year thousands of schools and groups entrust PGL with the organisation and coordination of their trip.
Can my group work towards or attain badges whilst on a PGL trip?
A trip to a PGL centre will allow any Brownies, Guides, Cubs or Scouts to enjoy a range of exciting and challenging activities, many of which relate to badges awarded by Girlguiding or The Scout Association. Details of our activities which can contribute to badges can be found on the Uniformed Groups area of our website. Alternatively, for more information call us on 0333 321 2116
Is my money safe with PGL?
We are a member of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) which means you benefit from ABTA's assistance and Code of Conduct. Some of the travel products and services we sell are protected in case of the financial failure of the travel company. We are also ATOL holders for any booking made with PGL Air Travel Ltd. Please ask us about the protection that applies to your booking
What level of support can I expect from PGL staff?
At our head office in Ross-on-Wye our team is responsible for the smooth running and co-ordination of your course booking, from initial enquiry and planning through to completion.
Our advisers have an in-depth knowledge of all our courses and centres and will help you make the best choice to suit your requirements.
Once you arrive at your chosen PGL Centre, there is a team of professional, trained staff, dedicated to looking after you and your group. Each group is allocated their own “Groupie” who helps supervise and entertain the group outside activity times, including in the evenings, through a structured daily programme.
For more detail on responsibilities and sharing the load see our Code of Practice here.
Can you offer any help with organising and launching my trip?
Once you have made your no-obligation provisional booking you will receive a Party Leader booking pack which includes:
PGL Party Leader Booking Guide - your comprehensive guide with tips on how to organise your trip and an explanation of what you will receive from PGL at each stage of the booking process.
PGL Code of Practice - containing detailed information regarding health and safety and risk assessment systems and procedures. Specific risk assessments for each centre are also available and will save you a lot of precious time.
PGL publicity material & information - to help you advertise and promote the trip and provide parents and group members with useful information.
What about my family – can they come too?
In addition to the various early booking, group, and multi-group discounts, we also offer free places for the Party Leader and accompanying staff. The Party Leader is also eligible for concessionary places for family members.
Do you provide Risk Assessments?
Yes. Safety is our top priority and risk assessments are made annually at each of our centres. Our Code of Practice document details the measures we have put in place to minimise risk. This is available on request or you can download it from this Leader Guide here. Wherever appropriate and relevant, activities are inspected and licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).
Is my group insured?
Yes. Our prices include insurance cover for all groups originating in the UK. A comprehensive insurance policy document is sent to you once your booking is confirmed.
How do I access the 'My PGL' section of the site?
When you make a provisional booking we will send you an email containing a special link - when you click on this link and register it allows our system to connect your booking to your new online account.
If you haven't received an email from us but would like to view your booking online, call your customer service contact and they will get the link sent to you.
