About Valmeinier

Situated in the unspoilt and easily accessible Maurienne Valley, the ski areas of Valmeinier and Valloire combine to form the extensive Galibier-Thabor domain, where two thirds of the skiing is above 2000m. With many north facing slopes, this is a snowsure resort.

Valmeinier itself comprises two separate resorts at 1500 and 1800m: the high altitude resort of 1800 is a purpose built complex and the livelier of the two with stunning mountain views, while 1500 has a more traditional village feel. A regular ski bus links the two stations, allowing access into the slopes of Valloire via the Grandes Drozes and Moneul lifts.

Travel

With 70% of the ski area over 2000m it makes for great snow conditions and a long operating season. The wide open slopes of Valmeinier created in the 1980s are also ideal for snowboarders.

Beginners and intermediates are particularly well catered for with predominantly green, blue and red runs on the Valmeinier side, and some more challenging blacks towards Valloire for the more advanced skier.
